Six months of background info
Candidates are referred to us by trusted partner organisations including Crisis and Shelter. So we already have at least six months of background information before starting our own series of assessments.
Six weeks of assessment
We work with candidates one-on-one for six weeks before making an introduction. We take care of DBS checks. And perform a series of assessments to ensure candidates are reliable, motivated — and ready to thrive given the chance.
Meticulous matching
Next we meticulously match suitable candidates with an employer and a host. We spend time understanding your needs first. You’re trusting us to rent your room - or add to your team - and we don’t take that lightly.
Zero-Risk
As a host, Standing Tall pays your rent straight to you for the first three months.
As a business, Standing Tall employs your new teammate on your behalf for the first three months.

As a host, you’ll be carefully matched with a trusted guest based on your needs. (And we’ve already spent six weeks vetting and getting to know guests before we make an intro). Once matched, you get a consistent rental income for six months. And strengths-based training to help you support your guest. After six months, your guest’s saved a rental deposit... And they’re ready to get the keys to their own place!

Let’s address the elephant in the room…
Your first thought might be that people who’ve experienced homelessness have probably got an addiction. Or mental health issues.
Who can blame you? The tabloids sensationalise homelessness. It’s one of societies most complex and misunderstood challenges.
People get trapped in a cycle of dependency on services. And some people never even get a chance.
We exist to help you change all that.
You can be part of the solution that started back when Christy, our CEO was volunteering in Birmingham night shelters. He saw people coming in off the streets that there were ready and willing to work. They just weren’t getting the chance.
So he began matching people from the shelter, with local jobs. And it worked. Now, four years later - we’ve got hosts and employers helping to end homelessness in London and Manchester too!
After four years - it’s clear. It’s the combination of a safe home - and a stable job - that allows people to get back on their feet. And stay there.
For candidates, change is lasting - because it’s their own hard-work and determination that turns their lives around.
It’s human. It’s effective. It’s sustainable. And it’s actually helping to stamp out homelessness.

Steve’s Story
When M Lambe Construction offered Steve a job - it was the perfect match. Steve’s a skilled plasterer by trade - so being back on a building site was ideal for him.
Next we matched Steve, with Ben - one of our Amici Hosts in Birmingham. Renting Ben’s spare room gave Steve a safe base to go to and from work. And get a good night’s sleep!
Steve smashed it at Lambe and got his official contract after 3 months. In his 6 months staying at Ben’s he saved for a rental deposit - and got the keys to his own place.
18 months on, Steve's thriving at Lambe, he’s got a safe roof over his head - and he’s happy in a new relationship.
Steve is now working his way towards a management role and hopes to support future Standing Tall hires.

I was already trying to match people with work, by going out to local businesses. But when you’re living in a noisy night shelter, it’s almost impossible to hold down a job. You can’t get a good night’s sleep!
Now we partner with incredible hosts from all walks of life. And we recruit talent for national businesses like HSBC and Network Rail. We’ve just launched in two more UK cities - Manchester and London. And with your help, over the next five years we’ll help 200 people move away from the streets - for good.”
